An Illustrated History of Boston Pols Flubbing Sports References

Last week, in a call with Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings Blake to talk a little trash in the run up to the AFC Championship Game, Boston Mayor Thomas Menino stumbled over the names of Patriots stars Vince Wilfork and Rob Gronkowski, calling them "Wilcock" and "Gonk."
It's not the first time Menino has blown a sports reference, and he's in good company. The Pats are done, the Celtics are under .500, the Bruins just started and the Red Sox aren't looking promising. So, in lieu of actual sports excitement, we've compiled a list of some of the more egregious sports pandering flubs from U.S. Sen. John Kerry to President Obama.
